HAPPY OKAY MATE. BBC New Creatives from Rural Media

Happy Okay Mate. A film for BBC New Creatives from Rural Media.

New Creatives is a talent development scheme offering emerging creatives the opportunity to make film, interactive media, and audio for BBC channels and platforms.

Rural Media helps 16-30 year-olds to do just that,  supporting them to develop original creative ideas reflecting their experiences of living in Britain today.

So ‘Happy Okay Mate’ is a real-life story emerging from lockdown, about two friends who couldn’t see each other. Rob texted Tom every day asking if he was alright. ‘Happy Okay Mate’ was the usual response. The two friends had found expression, connection, and communication through dance. This beautiful, sensitive short story conveys that longing to be able to get together again. Starring the two real-life friends – set in a dreamscape of being together.

We created the central poster graphic and couldn’t be more proud.
