SO25. City of Culture. Lunch event.

SO25. Southampton City of Culture BID. School Lunch event.

This week more than 7,000 school students tucked into a #UKCityofCulture2025 lunch prepared by BBC Masterchef winner Shelina Permaloo (and SO25 chair), to mark Southampton’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2025.

Shelina Permalloo teamed up with City Catering Southampton and got down to cooking up a storm, with Mauritian curry, Afghani rice, and pineapple pudding served to the city’s primary school students.  Shelina said it would offer children “a taste of our truly diverse city”.

We at Thomas Miller Creative, partner with SO25 to deliver creative and design for the cultural bid campaign. Last month we delivered the final BID submission with the SO25 team. For this city-wide event, we designed posters, menus, recipe cards, and activity sheets as well as the bunting!

The shortlist of those competing for the City Of Culture 2025 is expected next week.  The honour is awarded by the government to a city in the UK every four years. If successful in reaching the final four, Southampton will go on to host the panel of judges in early May.
