Sport England - accessible design for governance documents

Making design accessible for mandatory governance documents

The Code for Sports Governance sets out the levels of transparency, diversity and inclusion, accountability, and integrity that are required from organisations who seek UK Government and National Lottery funding via Sport England and/or UK Sport. Unlike most other governance codes, this Code is a mandatory set of requirements.

In July 2020, against the backdrop of Black Lives Matter and over three years of implementing, assessing and supporting the governance of organisations in line with its provisions, Thomas Miller was asked by Sport England and UK Sport to help launch the results of a Code review and to ensure the revised Code met accessibility requirements.

Substantive but easily accessed Tiers 1 and Three were made available and in March 2023 – we were again asked to design and supply Accessible Guidance Notes to further support the need for sports to comply with these mandatory requirements.
